To access the Calendar settings, click on the drop-down menu at the top-right of the screen and select Settings, then click into the Calendar tab.
Calendar
The Calendar section allows you to apply default rostering settings and rules for your company.
Week Starts On - Determines which day of the week your Calendar view begins on. This will be replaced by your nominated Pay Calendar if you use our Xero Payroll Integration.
Maximum Stint Duration - The longest duration of time an employee should be rostered in a single stint (a stint could be a single shift or multiple, depending on how you apply the following settings).
Minimum Stint Break Duration - The minimum break period that should occur between two stints.
For example, if this is set to 12 hours, Droppah's automatic rostering will avoid rostering an employee onto a new shift if it starts 12 hours or less after their last stint ended.
Stint Gap Tolerance - How much of a gap can occur between shifts before they are considered separate stints.
For example, if your Stint Gap Tolerance is 2 hours then an employee can be rostered onto multiple shifts back to back, and so long as there is no more than 2 hours between them the shifts will be considered a single stint. Stint gaps are counted in the Maximum Stint Duration, so two 5 hour shifts with a 1 hour gap would be considered an 11 hour stint.
Optimisation Category - Choose which factor should be focused on when optimising your automatically generated rosters.
The available options are:
- Cost - How affordable the roster is. When Cost is selected, Droppah will attempt to optimise your roster for the lowest labour cost. For this option, ensure each employee's Cost per Hour is set correctly via Manage > People.
- Experience - How much experience your employees have with their skills. When Experience is selected, Droppah will attempt to utilise employees with more hours of experience at a particular skill. For this option, ensure that each employee has their hours of experience loaded onto their skills via Manage > People. Droppah will also continue to accrue experience each time they work.
- Rating - How well rated your employees are for their skills. When Rating is selected, Droppah will attempt to roster on employees who have a higher skill rating applied to the skill they're being rostered for. For this option, ensure that each employee has their rating out of five stars loaded onto their skills via Manage > People.
Cover Requests
Cover requests are available to companies on the Free and The Works plans, and allow your employees to request that their co-workers cover their shifts.
The available company settings for cover requests are:
Enabled - This setting allows your employees to request cover for their shifts (if they use the Employee Mobile App). You can toggle the switch off if you wish to disable this function.
Require Approval - If cover requests are enabled, this setting adds a mandatory approval step. Once an employee has accepted the cover request, the proposed swap will be sent to any Team Managers on the Team the shift is for, for them to approve. If no Team Managers are found on the team, the email notification will be sent to any Admins in the Droppah account instead.
Using cover requests will require that you have Invited Employees to Droppah.

Time
Under the Time section, you can choose whether or not to enable the Paid Breaks feature and adjust the Midnight Date Rule.
Paid Breaks
When enabled, breaks recorded by your employees via the Time Clock will be automatically determined as paid or unpaid, based on the rules set for your country or the custom rules set for your account.
See more information about this feature here: Paid Breaks
Midnight Break Rule
This setting controls how Droppah handles the date for time entries that cross midnight.
- Split on Public Holidays (Default) - Time that crosses midnight at the beginning or end of a public holiday will be split at midnight, generating a separate time entry for each date. This ensures hours worked on the public holiday are allocated appropriately in the Timesheet Export or when Approving Time for PayHero. Time crossing midnight on all other dates will not be split - a single time entry will be recorded, with all hours considered as falling on a single day (the date the shift started).
- Split on All Days - All time that cross midnight will be split at midnight, generating two time entries. Note that this means shifts worked over midnight will generate time on two different dates when exported in the Timesheet Export or when Approving Time for PayHero.
- Use Shift Start Date - Time entries that cross midnight will not be split. A single time entry will be recorded, with all hours considered as falling on a single day (the date the shift started).
