Droppah Chats lets everyone in your company message each other directly within Droppah — no need to jump between apps to coordinate your team. Admins, managers, and employees can all send direct messages or create group chats on both mobile and desktop.
Getting Started
To use Droppah Chats on mobile, make sure everyone in your team has the latest version of the Droppah app installed. Check for updates in the App Store or Google Play Store. They'll also need to enable push notifications for Droppah on their device; otherwise, they won't be notified of new messages.
You can access Droppah Chats via the chat icon in the top right corner of the app on both mobile and desktop.
Starting a Direct Message
To message someone directly:
Click or tap the chat icon in the top right corner.
Click or tap New Chat.
Search for and select the person you'd like to message.
Type your message and hit send.
You can message anyone in your company — admins, managers, and employees alike. This works the same way on both mobile and desktop.
Creating a Group Chat
To start a group conversation:
Click or tap the chat icon in the top right corner.
Click or tap New Chat.
Select multiple people to add them to the group.
Type your message and hit send.
There's no limit on the number of people you can include in a group chat, and group chats can be created from both mobile and desktop.
To view group chat members or shared files, open the chat and tap or click the chat details. From there, you can see everyone in the conversation and any files that have been shared.
Mentioning Someone with @
In a group chat, you can get a specific person's attention by mentioning them. Type @ followed by their name, then select them from the list that appears. Their name will be highlighted in the message, and they'll be notified that you mentioned them.
Notifications for mentions are always sent, even if the person has muted the chat. This makes sure they don't miss a message that's directed specifically at them.
Notifications
You'll receive a push notification on mobile when you get a new message. Make sure push notifications are enabled for Droppah on your device to stay on top of your conversations.
Muting a Chat
If you don't want to be notified about new messages in a particular conversation, you can mute it. Open the chat, tap or click the chat details, and select Mute. You'll stay in the conversation and can still read messages, but you won't receive push notifications for it. To start getting notifications again, open the chat details and select Unmute.
Muting a chat won't stop notifications when someone mentions you directly with @. Those are always sent so you don't miss a message meant for you.
Reacting to Messages
You can react to a message with an emoji. To see who has reacted, tap or click the reactions shown beneath a message. This opens a list of everyone who reacted, along with the reaction they left. Reactions work in both direct messages and group chats.
Read Receipts
You can check when a message has been read. Long press on a message and select Read Receipts to see its read status. In a group chat, this shows you who in the conversation has read the message.
Privacy
Messages are private — only the people included in a conversation can see its contents. Admins do not have visibility of conversations they aren't part of.
